Biography
Silvie So is a Welsh, multi-disciplinary artist, working with various mediums such as, photography, film, sculpture, textiles, creative direction, movement and writing. Silvie attended the Scenic Art, Summer course in The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, in 2024 and then received a level 4 Diploma, in set design and art department for film and tv from UAL, Pinewood studios in 2025.
Silvie’s work could be described as both sensual and grotesque, Exploring themes around luxury, the body, the planet, she delves into the conflicts and relationships between nature, modernity and capitalism. Her work poignantly captures how the beauty of nature can be tainted by human behaviours and societal constructs. Her practice is also deeply influenced by growing up in Wales, where she was raised around a rich tradition of story telling and eerie folklore. Her work often challenges and reinterprets feminine archetypes, drawing from fairytale characters as cautionary figures warning of ‘bad women’.
